Shawn's most recent fascination guided her to a 10th training completion and certification in Slings Myofascial Training®, which takes her back full circle to her love of anatomy and the imponderable ability of our body and our mind to repattern through movement rich in proprioceptive awareness and interoceptive clarity.
Yoga Therapy & Myofascial Training
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is a profound practice that is personalized to nourish the multidimensionality of each individual. Meeting and connecting with the many varied layers of being such as the physical, energetic, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Using applicable yogic tools or techniques like asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and chant or mantra to guide you toward your intention
whether it be recovery from injury, health considerations, deepening or refining your current practice or simply finding a practice that is uniquely your own.

“Self- Knowledge is the antidote to avidya, and is gained through the practice of all 8 limbs of yoga”
-Joseph Le Page

What is Myofascial Training?

Slings Myofascial Training® is founded by Karin Gurtner and inspired by the Anatomy Trains® concept discovered by Tom Myers. Slings is a fascia focused movement practice that enables the repatterning of the body’s myofascial structure and is accessible and beneficial to students of all ages and all levels. The Slings of the body are the myofascial meridians or trains that Tom Myers describes and they functionally connect, support, shape as well as inform the body of movement potential. The movement potential is influenced by understanding and eventually embodying movement qualities defined by Karin Gurtner like fluidity, adaptability, tensile strength and elasticity. By experiencing and adapting these movement qualities in our asana or any other daily movement, the psychophysiological body meets new possibilities for mobility, stability, somatic trust, ease and wellbeing.

“Fascia should not be described just as a passive support structure, but rather a dynamic and adaptable system with great potential for movement.” - R.L. Swanson

“Fascia is the bodies largest sense organ” - Robert Schleip
Testimonials
Private Instruction
Shawn weaves together decades of study and practical application of the ancient traditions of yoga in yoga therapy and the scientifically rich and experientially informed myofascial system in movement as is appropriate for the individual.
Private yoga and movement sessions tend to yield faster results than a general group class as they are customized for the client. Some clients prefer regular weekly meetings while others prefer intermittent meetings to develop and progress through a regular home practice.

Please email Shawn to inquire about pricing or to book an appointment at shawn@re-sourceyogatherapy.com. All private sessions are held At Shawn's Private Studio located in downtown Santa Fe, NM.

“Fascia is the fluid, fibrous medium that surrounds every cell and every chemical event.” - Pratt
Group Classes
“Fascia not only envelops the whole body, it turns the way we look at the body upside down.” Tom Myers
Myofascial Yoga
Appropriate for the new student as well as the seasoned practitioner, this class is a holistic concept with intelligent fascia-focused movement. The concept arises from Patanjali’s definition of asana having equal components of steadiness and ease. Using the fascial movement qualities of Slings Myofascial Training® as designed by Karin Gurtner that emerged from Anatomy Trains founded by Tom Myers to understand the supportive and resilient energy resource of our myofascial system. Think of it as connective tissue although it is so much more. Each class is woven with breath and imagery to support awareness of the body in all its dimensions. Each practitioner is guided experientially to a deeper understanding of what moves, supports, strengthens, stabilizes, and relaxes the many layers of the body at any age.
All in-person group classes held at YogaSource.
